The University Bookstore on the University of Maine campus is seeking a Manager of Retail Services and Merchandise to oversee ordering and inventory of collegiate licensed merchandise for the bookstore, Bear Necessities Fan Shop, and related e-commerce platforms. This role leads the merchandise buying team and develops merchandising and marketing plans while expanding the UMaine brand beyond campus.

The position offers a typical hiring range of $52,000 to $55,000 commensurate with qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in retail sales, merchandise selection, product management, buying and/or working with vendors.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with assortment planning, merchandising, marketing, visual merchandising, and collegiate merchandise.
• Experience in inventory management and with vendors.
• Travel may be required; valid driver’s license.
