Job summary

Goodwill Keystone Area in Pennsylvania is seeking a Merchandise Processor to support donated goods operations. You will process textiles, housewares, electronics and other donations, price and tag items, and move stock to the sales floor to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Process textile donations by sorting, pricing, tagging, and moving product to the sales floor.
  • Process donations of housewares, electronics, shoes and other items similarly.
  • Organize, recover and rotate the sales floor as needed.
  • Adhere to quality and production standards.
  • Track daily production and report to supervisor.
  • Support ecommerce item selection for the department.
  • Provide high-quality customer service to customers, donors and staff.

Department: Donated Goods Retail

Reports to: Production Manager

Status: Non‑Exempt

Summary

Provide essential support in overall operations and customer service with a main focus on processing all donations, including sorting, hanging, pricing, tagging, stocking and rotating product while adhering to all production and quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process textile donations, including sorting, hanging, pricing, tagging and moving product to the sales floor to meet preset production and sales goals for the store.
  • Process donations of housewares, electronics, media, shoes, and other miscellaneous items, including sorting, pricing, tagging, and moving product to the sales floor to meet preset production and sales goals for the store.
  • Organize, recover and rotate the sales floor as needed.
  • Follow all quality and production standards as set by Goodwill Keystone Area.
  • Track production daily and report to supervisor.
  • Be knowledgeable of daily, weekly and monthly production and sales goals.
  • Select appropriate items for the Ecommerce department.
  • Assist and have flexibility in the overall daily operations within the store.
  • Ensure that high‑quality customer service is presented and provided in a timely and courteous manner to all customers, donors and other employees.
  • Support, promote and participate in organizational programs and special events.
  • Assist in any other assignments designated by management.
  • Adhere to all Goodwill Keystone Area manuals, handbooks, policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the organization by supporting additional tasks and projects as needed.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Communicate progress, problems, and concerns to the Production Manager.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • No formal education necessary.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to ensure full availability for all required work shifts, including flexible scheduling across all store operating hours and to meet state and federal child labor law requirements.
Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write and perform simple math.
  • Must meet qualitative and quantitative performance standards as established by the organization.
  • Must be able to work in an open warehouse environment, exposed to various weather and temperature conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
  • Ability to learn and use equipment and technology.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Requires a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift.
  • Bend forward or to the side 60 degrees to remove or place items into various carts for about 50% of the shift.
  • Stand with the neck bent forward 30 degrees for more than 75% of the shift.
  • Lift 50 pounds from ground level to waist level for about 25% of the shift.
  • Lift 25 pounds every few minutes for more than 75% of the shift.
  • Push and pull various carts requiring a force of 25 pounds over a distance of 100 feet for about 25% of the shift.
  • Perform repetitive hand, wrist and arm motions every few seconds for more than 75% of the shift.
