Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan is seeking a store associate to process donated items for sale. You will inspect items, price them, and place them in the right locations for pricing and distribution.

The role includes customer service, basic training support, and ensuring safety standards across the store. The position requires high school completion, and availability to work in the evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in sales is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for up to eight hours.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects donated items for quality and determines disposition per store direction.
  • Puts items in appropriate locations for pricing and distribution.
  • Prepares household items for the store according to standards.
  • Prices items using pricing machine, tagging gun and adhesive tags.
  • Meets or exceeds goals and standards of production and quality.
  • Completes the assigned cleaning routine.
  • Assists in training workers and consumers with Workforce Development staff.
  • Maintain safety standards and documentation in area of responsibility.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Key Holder.

Job description

Sorts, prices, and prepares donated items for placement in the store.

Essential Functions:
  1. Inspects donated items for overall quality and determines disposition of items based on store manager's direction.
  2. Places items in appropriate locations for pricing and/or distribution.
  3. Prepares household items for the store according to the store quality and pricing standards.
  4. Uses pricing machine, adhesive price tags and tagging gun to price items in accordance with store standards and Store Manager's direction.
  5. Meets or exceeds goals and standards of production and quality.
  6. Accomplishes assigned cleaning routine.
  7. Assists in the training of workers and consumers in cooperation with the Workforce Development Department staff.

  1. CARF: Ensure documentation and compliance with CARF standards.
  2. Safety: Maintain applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations in areas of responsibility.

  12. Carries out additional duties assigned by the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or Key Holder.
Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in sales is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Able to stand for two hours at a time over a period spanning up to eight hours.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
