Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking team-oriented staff to manage donated merchandise and prepare items for display in a fast-paced retail setting. You will sort, price, and stock items while assisting donors and customers with service.

The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and efficiency, with opportunities to grow professionally while working in a community-focused nonprofit environment in Bowie, MD.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, lifting up to 25 lbs for extended periods.
• Preferred: six months of previous work experience.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor.
• Stays abreast of brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
• Prepare items for the sales floor. Evaluate items for quality, pricing, value and salability.
• Counts items processed and records on official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
• Places items on hangers and transports them to the sales floor grouped by type.
• Counts pieces of clothing and records on Daily Hanger Report.
• Follows safety and security practices and reports hazards.
• Maintains productivity to meet quotas and keeps a neat appearance.
• Assists in collection and stocking of donated merchandise.
