Our Manager, Merchandising will lead product strategy and oversee multiple categories, ensuring assortments, pricing, and execution align with business goals. The manager works closely with Product Development, Planning, and other teams to optimize offerings and drive sales, while also overseeing a team to ensure smooth daily operations.
In This Role
- Own and execute product and pricing strategies across multiple key categories
- Partner with Product Development to deliver on-brand, profitable products for assortments
- Collaborate with leadership and cross functional partners to develop material strategies for key categories
- Partner with Planning to implement effective markdown, margin optimization, and inventory strategies
- Work with Marketing and Creative teams to implement compelling brand stories and product strategies
- Partner with the Vice President of Merchandising to identify new and existing category profit growth opportunities and lead special projects
- Manage target pricing and negotiate cost changes to ensure category profitability
- Analyze market trends, competitor data, and sales performance to inform strategic decisions
- Maintain data integrity, communication and strategy for select categories

Management
- Manage and mentor a team of direct reports, ensuring high performance, accountability, and efficiency
- Supervise and lead employee(s), ensuring efficient and effective operations
- Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to team members, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their jobs effectively
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed
- Promote a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging employee engagement and teamwork
- Foster strong communication within the team, ensuring clarity of roles, expectations, and goals
- Identify and address skill gaps or performance issues promptly, implementing development opportunities and support plans as needed
- Encourage innovation by involving team members in problem-solving and process improvement initiatives
The Ideal Person
- 8+ years of experience in merchandising, retail buying, or a similar field
- Experience in managing and developing a team
- Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising or related field
- Experience in category ownership and product strategy execution
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in merchandising tools, reporting, and data analysis
- Familiarity with tools for inventory management and demand planning
- Demonstrated ability to implement dynamic pricing strategies and margin optimization techniques
- Strong ability to align category goals with broader business objectives
- Deep understanding of customer preferences and ability to tailor strategies to meet their needs
