General Summary & Scope

The Merchandise Manager (MM) is responsible for leading through Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values and contributing to a high-performing team that consistently delivers top-line sales growth for the store. The MM reports to the Operations Manager (OM). The MM guides a team of Task Associates and is accountable for supporting the operations of a retail store, including shipment process, replenishment, omni-channel, price changes, and markdowns. This leader drives the store’s business through focus on performance, people, and process. This position requires operational excellence, a drive for results, and the ability to lead efficiently through unforeseen complexity.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The MM demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties:

Performance

• Promote accountability to meet or exceed store goals related to sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni-channel, and shrink.
• Drive profitability through operational excellence, sales growth, and expense control.
• Support store scheduling to maximize productivity and meet sales and payroll goals.
• Analyze operational reports and react promptly.
• Utilize company tools to improve store performance.
• Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demos to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintain regular attendance and hold staff accountable.

People

• Attract, hire, and retain diverse top talent.
• Build an engaged team that embodies the brand through collaboration and communication.

• Manage inventory control and theft reporting.
• Support continuous improvement and communicate business insights.

Job Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 1-2+ years in retail management or relevant experience.
• Experience with sales, reporting, payroll, and expense management.
• Proven leadership in team development and operational execution.

Skills

• Proficiency with POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible full-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Availability for early morning shifts and specific days.
