Job summary

CAI is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead the installation, startup, and testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems on complex capital projects in the Raleigh area. You will develop detailed commissioning plans, conduct inspections, perform functional tests, and prepare handover packages while ensuring compliance with codes, safety standards, and project requirements.

Travel to job sites may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer, preferably in life sciences, semiconductors, or other mission critical industries.
Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to travel to job sites as required, including travel out of state, as needed.

Responsibilities

Oversee and execute commissioning of MEP and control systems for projects.
Develop commissioning plans, testing schedules, procedures, and required documentation.
Develop system specific Pre-Functional Checklists and Functional Performance Test protocols.
Assist with design review of MEP systems.
Assist with coordination of field activities and work alongside technicians and trade partners during the construction and testing phases.
Perform functional performance tests to verify system performance against design parameters.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during commissioning to ensure safety and efficiency.
Prepare and review test reports, commissioning documentation, and final project handover packages.
Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Assist the project manager with commissioning deliverable and activity tracking.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
