Job summary

CAI in Houston is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead the installation, startup, and testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems on complex capital projects.

You will develop commissioning plans, perform tests, review documentation, and ensure safety and quality while collaborating with project teams and trade partners.

Travel to job sites, including out-of-state, may be required; a strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Proven commissioning experience in life sciences, semiconductors, or mission critical industries.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and control systems.
• Familiar with commissioning procedures, testing methods, and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specs.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to travel to job sites, including out-of-state travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute commissioning of MEP and control systems.
• Perform inspections, testing, and troubleshooting to meet specs.
• Develop detailed commissioning plans with schedules and docs.
• Create Pre-Functional Checklists and Functional Performance Test protocols.
• Assist with design reviews of MEP systems.
• Coordinate field activities with technicians and trade partners.
• Conduct functional performance tests and verify parameters.
• Troubleshoot issues to ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Prepare and review test reports and handover packages.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Support project manager with deliverable tracking.
• Collaborate with stakeholders for timely project delivery.
• Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities.
