Job summary

Talint's client is seeking an MEP Superintendent to support the construction of a new hospital in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of MEP construction oversight experience and will help oversee the installation, coordination, testing, and commissioning of critical systems on-site.

The role requires coordinating complex MEP installations, interpreting drawings, and ensuring work quality and safety on schedule, with NEC and commissioning knowledge strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of MEP construction oversight experience on hospitals or similar facilities.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building systems.
• Experience coordinating complex MEP installations from rough-in to turnover.
• Familiarity with NEC and commissioning processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation and coordination of all MEP systems on site.
• Lead coordination between MEP subcontractors, project management, design teams, and field supervision.
• Oversee electrical construction activities including medium- and low-voltage systems and power infrastructure.
• Coordinate MEP testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover activities (MOP reviews, equipment startup).
• Review submittals and field issues to ensure quality and schedule adherence.

Talint's client is a growing and respected provider of safety and quality management consulting and services in the construction industry to both government and commercial clients.

Our client is seeking an MEP Superintendent to support the construction of a new hospital in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of MEP construction oversite experience. This role will help oversee the installation, coordination, testing, and commissioning of critical systems while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. This role is onsite.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• 8+ years of experience supervising MEP construction on hospitals, mission-critical facilities, laboratories, airports, or data centers.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building systems, with demonstrated experience coordinating complex MEP installations from rough-in through commissioning and final turnover.
• Experience supporting electrical distribution systems, including medium- and low-voltage equipment, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, transformers, equipment startup, commissioning, and MOP reviews.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, MEP coordination drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, shop drawings, and project specifications. Knowledge of NEC and commissioning processes is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360), Facility Grid, or similar construction management platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the installation and coordination of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage systems, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
• Lead coordination efforts between MEP subcontractors, project management, design teams, and field supervision to resolve installation conflicts, maintain construction sequencing, and achieve project milestones.
• Support electrical construction activities by overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of medium- and low-voltage systems, including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, transformers, and other critical power infrastructure.
• Coordinate MEP testing, startup, commissioning, and system turnover activities, including participation in MOP (Method of Procedure) reviews, equipment startup, functional performance testing, and completion of turnover documentation.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and field installation issues while monitoring subcontractor performance, quality standards, and project schedules to ensure successful project delivery.
