Job summary

Henderson Scott US in New York City seeks an experienced MEP Project Manager to lead scopes on commercial interior construction across NYC. You will coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life-safety systems within occupied corporate spaces, managing design coordination, commissioning, and closeout.

The role requires 5+ years in MEP PM, hands-on with Procore and MS Project, strong NYC code knowledge, and excellent leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of MEP Project Management experience within commercial construction.
• Extensive NYC commercial interiors / corporate interiors experience is REQUIRED.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, controls, and life-safety systems.
• Experience managing MEP scopes within occupied Class A office buildings, corporate headquarters, financial institutions, law firms, or similar environments.
• Proficiency with Procore and MS Project preferred.

A leading New York City General Contractor is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager with a strong background managing MEP scopes on commercial interior construction projects throughout NYC. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience coordinating complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, controls, and life‑safety systems within corporate office and commercial interior environments.

Compensation:

$125,000-$165,000

Location:

New York, NY (ONSITE)

Responsibilities:

• Manage all MEP scopes for commercial interior projects from preconstruction and design coordination through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, controls, and other building systems with architectural and interior construction scopes.
• Work closely with MEP subcontractors, engineers, consultants, Superintendents, Project Managers, building management, and ownership teams.
• Review MEP drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings, and change orders.
• Lead MEP coordination meetings and identify potential clashes, constructability concerns, and field conflicts before they impact the project schedule.
• Manage critical MEP shutdowns, tie‑ins, testing, inspections, commissioning, and turnover activities, particularly within occupied commercial buildings.
• Coordinate MEP work with ceilings, partitions, millwork, lighting, specialty finishes, and other interior trades to maintain proper sequencing.
• Manage subcontractor scopes, buyout, procurement, long‑lead equipment, change orders, and project costs.
• Develop and maintain MEP schedules while tracking critical equipment, inspections, approvals, and project milestones.
• Coordinate with landlords and base‑building teams regarding existing building systems, tenant connections, shutdown requirements, and building standards.
• Maintain project documentation through Procore, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, logs, and closeout documentation.
• Monitor field installation for compliance with drawings, specifications, building standards, and NYC codes.
• Manage DOB, FDNY, commissioning, testing, inspections, punch lists, and final MEP closeout requirements.
• Provide regular updates regarding MEP schedule, costs, procurement, coordination issues, and overall project status.

Requirements:

5+ years of MEP Project Management experience within commercial construction.

• Extensive NYC commercial interiors / corporate interiors experience is REQUIRED.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, controls, and life‑safety systems.
• Experience managing MEP scopes within occupied Class A office buildings, corporate headquarters, financial institutions, law firms, or similar high‑end commercial environments strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of MEP coordination, shutdowns, tie‑ins, commissioning, testing, inspections, and closeout.
• Experience coordinating MEP systems with architectural and high‑end interior finishes.
• Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, coordination drawings, and construction documents.
• Experience managing subcontractors, schedules, budgets, procurement, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Proficiency with Procore and MS Project preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NYC building codes, permitting, inspections, and construction requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
