MEP Project Lead - Advanced Manufacturing

Job summary

Suffolk Construction is seeking an MEP Project Manager - Advanced Manufacturing to lead field inspections, coordinate MEP resources, manage subcontractors, and drive timely submittals, change orders, and commissioning activities.

You will interface with BIM/VDC, A/E teams, utility providers, and owners to ensure project delivery aligns with schedule and quality standards. A BS in engineering and 5+ years in MEP systems are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (technical/engineering degree) Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Fire protection.
• Minimum 5+ years experience with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems in the Advanced Manufacturing space
• Minimum of 2+ years of project management experience
• Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to read drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of BIM/VDC coordination including various hit detection programs
• Knowledge of Local, City, State, and International building codes for the location of the project

Responsibilities

• Review of mechanical bid tabs and Exhibit B in contract
• Interviewing and selecting sub-contractors for each project
• Day-to-day management of MEP sub-contractors
• Reviewing and approval of MEP monthly requisitions
• Reviewing and approval of MEP change orders
• Site walks to ensure work progressing according to schedule, including schedule updates
• Direct communication with BIM/VDC personnel and Superintendent to ensure coordination is on track with schedule
• Work with A/E team to develop solutions to coordination items
• Review all MEP submittals
• Obtain documentation from inspections and testing
• Oversee the MEP & FP contractor and the Commissioning agent
• Coordinate with Owner third party MEP contractors or testing agencies
• Obtain mechanical close out documentation; as builts, attic stock and OMs
• Coordinate multi-trade portions of the project; curtain wall with security, electrical and door hardware
• Develop and monitor equipment delivery logs, organize submittal process for long lead items first
• Attend weekly owner meetings, subcontractor meetings, coordination meetings and field meetings
• Obtain AHJ approvals/sign-offs
• Work with retail and/or tenant fit out where applicable
• Develop work lists, and complete MEP punch list
• Coordinate owner training and turnover
• Work with public utilities to meet project requirements (temporary electrical, steam, natural gas)
• Coordinate and direct all parties to complete life safety inspections
• Coordinate between trades and documents; ensure electrical requirements for mechanical are correct
