Job summary

The Brewer-Garrett Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Commercial / MEP Systems in Middleburg Heights, OH. You will design, engineer, and coordinate HVAC, plumbing, and related MEP systems for commercial and industrial construction projects. You will review drawings, collaborate with project managers and construction teams, and ensure code-compliance and project goals.

A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years of MEP experience is required; PE is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing MEP systems for commercial or industrial construction.
• PE license is a plus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Procore and Bluebeam preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, HVAC design, plumbing, and building systems.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with project teams and clients.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer mechanical systems for commercial and industrial construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and building automation.
• Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
• Perform site surveys and equipment assessments to support system design and installation.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, and construction teams to integrate MEP systems.
• Prepare and review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best engineering practices.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support during construction.
• Support project budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering as needed.
