Job summary

CPG Beyond, Inc. is seeking an experienced MEP Manager, Cx to lead commissioning of data center mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This remote-full-time role requires up to 70% nationwide travel and close collaboration with clients, vendors, and engineers.

You will review design packages, conduct FAT/First of Kind tests, and develop O&M documentation for operational efficiency. The position emphasizes hands-on testing, detailed reporting, SOPs/MOPs development, and adherence to QC

Qualifications

  • Education aligned with mechanical/electrical engineering or construction management.
  • Progressive experience in commissioning of MEP systems in large facilities.
  • Experience with data center, mission-critical, or large-scale construction.
  • At least 10 years in the engineering field.
  • Experience using Procore and MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects, plans, specifications, and assignments in multidisciplinary commissioning.
  • Ensure quality management and QC throughout commissioning activities.
  • Lead daily commissioning meetings and develop SOPs and MOPs.
  • Prepare commissioning procedures and reports and maintain logs and checklists.
  • Develop and administer functional tests for electrical distribution, UPS, standby generators.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and owners' representatives.

Position Summary
The MEP Manager, Cx leads and executes commissioning of data center mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment. This person is responsible for conducting reviews of client design packages, monitoring, and analyzing FAT and First of Kind equipment Level 1 thru 5 tests and developing O&M documentation to serve as a reference for data center electrical equipment. The Data Center Commissioning Engineer is critical in the company's continued success and growth by ensuring that testing has been executed and the client's data centers operate at maximum operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage projects, plans, provide and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary engineering commissioning role for large facility projects.
  • Adhere to a thorough quality management/QC process and procedures throughout commissioning activities.
  • Participate in daily commissioning activity meetings including equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures, development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs), and comprehensive commissioning documentation.
  • Prepare commissioning test procedures and reports; develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track commissioning projects.
  • Write comprehensive reports including recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
  • Perform integrated system testing, load bank testing, and compile all testing procedure results.
  • Develop and administer functional tests for various systems such as electrical distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, etc.
  • System assembly and commission plan preparation; follow company QC processes and procedures.
  • Help lead and manage any external resources; schedule and direct periodic commissioning meetings; attend construction and coordination meetings as required.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners’ agents as needed; execute project assignments; collaborate with engineering, design, and other company departments.
  • Verify results of test reports; assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed.
  • Utilize field experience in the operation and application of Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data loggers, and related system testing equipment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% to job locations.
  • Work schedules may include evenings, nights, weekends, and extended hours based on project requirements and critical path activities.

Qualifications

Education / Experience (Desired):

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • Progressive experience in construction, commissioning, or mission-critical environments with demonstrated responsibility for managing MEP systems and directing the work of others.
  • Experience with data center, mission-critical, or large-scale commercial construction projects preferred.
  • 10 years’ experience in the Engineering Field
  • Experience with Procore
  • A/E experience working in complex facilities or mission critical projects is a big plus
  • Electrical equipment testing experience in a Critical Facilities / facility environment
  • Experience with IEEE/ASHRAE procedures and protocols is a plus
  • Possess basic knowledge of systems design for various projects
  • Computer Skills: Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Cx Alloy and Microsoft Project

Certificates and Licenses:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.
  • Additional industry certifications related to commissioning, construction management, or MEP systems are preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports with this position.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; standing and walking is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
