Overview
Nationwide GC seeks a Superintendent for Large Mission Critical or Distribution Warehouse builds. This Jobot Job is hosted by Ron Calhoun. Salary $100,000 - $175,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Takes ownership of all aspects of field activities from start up to completion, including safety, quality, schedule, planning, jobsite logistics, leading the on-site management team, subcontractor coordination, and risk assessment.
- Maintain and track overall project schedule; create and maintain a two-three week lookahead; use the schedule to deliver the project on time.
- Provide real-time data to PM/Scheduler for schedule maintenance.
- Ensure site safety requirements are met at all times; assist on-site safety personnel; stop work when infractions are found; counsel subcontractors and team members on violations.
- Train project team members on Gray software (CMO, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Concur, E-Time).
- Conduct site and weekly meetings to coordinate subcontractor activities with the project schedule.
- Prepare monthly project reports on safety, schedule, subcontractor performance, quality, budget, and customer relations.
- Collaborate with PM team to ensure timely buyout of subcontracts and procurement schedule alignment with the project schedule.
- Lead, teach, coach, and train subordinates in professional contractual relationships with all project parties.
- Establish and manage a jobsite safety culture in accordance with Gray’s safety program; lead by example and hold the team accountable to Gray policies and procedures.
- Mentor and facilitate growth of team members; set up and close out construction sites; walk the project daily to verify work is completed safely, with quality and on schedule.
- Communicate early and often with project team and stakeholders; conduct required meetings to coordinate subcontractor activities.
- Review drawings (shop, architectural, structural, etc.) when issued and maintain a current set; study project documents to ensure construction per plans and contract.
- Review project budget with the Project Manager; stay in tune with financials and the impact of site activities on budgets.
- Assist in developing scopes of work for Project Manager review; may assist in locating and evaluating subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers; participate in pre-award meetings.
- Assist in preparing reports (cost to complete, monthly billings, status reports); implement and execute project closeout and punch list procedures.
- Take ownership of overall coordination and management of project team to ensure buyout and procurement are on schedule after mobilization; manage schedule to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents; supervise and manage multiple on-site teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of related construction experience.
- Experience as the overall on-site supervisor with collaboration between design, project, and schedule management is preferred.
- Projects span Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Automotive, Distribution, and Mission Critical; typical project volumes $10mm–$50mm, $50mm–$100mm, $100mm–$200mm, or >$200mm.
- Demonstrated leadership to manage on-site project teams to successful completions.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and contract documents.
- Strong people management and communication skills.

- May lead multiple subordinate supervisors and other staff; interview, hire, train, and evaluate team members; plan, assign, and direct work; reward and discipline as needed.
- Takes ownership of training newer team members.
