Job summary

Limbach Facility Services LLC is seeking an Engineer II to provide mechanical engineering expertise for projects, including design, development, and completion under the direction of a Senior Engineer.

You will define design criteria, perform field surveys, prepare analyses, and coordinate with Architects and other engineers to ensure code-compliant, cost-effective solutions. This role involves both office work and site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of MEP engineering experience.
• Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws.
• Working knowledge of CAD tools and energy modeling programs.
• Experience with HVAC load calculation methods, duct/piping/plumbing design, energy modeling, equipment selection, temperature control, acoustics, and other areas of mechanical construction.
• Understanding of construction and maintenance activities related to HVAC and plumbing trades.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Develops and defines applicable design criteria, including code compliance requirements.
• Conducts surveys to gather field data.
• Prepares project analyses, including design, load calculation, life cycle cost, and equipment selection.
• Creates and interprets drawing prints, schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
• Coordinates mechanical design requirements and constraints with other design professionals.
• Prepares technical construction specifications and compliance documentation for submission.
• Manages engineering document production and reviews for compliance with standards and codes.
• Coordinates design activities with construction teams.
• Assists in resolving project issues and scope changes.
• Reviews and approves equipment submittals and shop drawings.
• Supports development of conceptual design and estimates for sales opportunities.
• Provides on-the-job training and feedback to staff.
• Maintains a safe working environment on job sites.
