Early in your career, the work you see shapes the engineer you become. At TGCE, you will work on data center projects, a fast-growing part of our electrical practice, alongside institutional and commercial buildings. You will also see the forensic side of engineering: construction defect and errors-and-omissions cases where we are brought in as the expert to find out why a building failed. Reviewing other firms' drawings with our senior engineers teaches you the mistakes most engineers only learn about the hard way.
We are also owned by the people who do the work. Every quarter, a meaningful share of the firm's profit goes to our employees, and after three years you have the opportunity to become a shareholder. Several of our owners started here as interns. What you get out of TGCE, in skill and in pay, follows what you put into it.
TGCE is an MEP engineering firm founded in Austin in 1985. About 30 of us work together in our Austin office, and we have completed more than 1,600 projects across higher education, healthcare, research, K-12, civic, hospitality, and historic preservation, for clients such as the University of Texas and MD Anderson. Beyond design, we provide commissioning, troubleshooting, and forensic services. We run the business conservatively, with no debt, and our average employee has been here about ten years.
You will design building electrical systems under the review of experienced PEs: load calculations, one-lines, panel schedules, fault current and voltage drop, lighting, and specifications. You will work on data center projects, support forensic investigations, and get out on job sites to see how your designs are built. As you earn your PE, you will take on ownership of your own projects.
If you are an early-career electrical engineer who wants to learn faster and build a long career at a firm you can one day own, we would like to hear from you.
