MEP Construction Project Manager

Job summary

Jobtailor in Virginia seeks a seasoned MEP Construction Manager to lead construction activities from preconstruction through closeout. You will coordinate with architects, contractors, and internal teams to ensure design compliance, schedule adherence, and budget control.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Services, plus 5+ years of MEP experience and strong knowledge of HVAC, BAS, and commissioning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in MEP construction management.
• Experience managing manufacturing or warehouse projects is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, BAS, and commissioning processes.
• Firm knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequences, and drawings.
• Excellent oral and written communication and business presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all MEP-related matters.
• Lead MEP construction activities from preconstruction through project closeout.
• Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and staffing strategies.
• Manage multiple MEP projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and schedule objectives.
• Review and coordinate MEP design documents, shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
• Develop and manage MEP project budgets and forecasts.
• Identify and resolve clashes, constructability issues, and design conflicts.
• Assist in developing and managing project strategic plans and program initiatives.
• Develop detailed MEP construction schedules and milestone plans.
• Manage procurement of major MEP equipment and materials.
• Lead MEP testing, startup, commissioning, and systems integration activities.
• Act as Owner’s Advisor with primary responsibility for all project phases.
• Manage overall planning, design, and construction processes.
• Guide clients through design and construction complexities, ownership priorities, logistics, sequencing, and design management.
• Coordinate with the Architect, Contractor, and other project team members to meet objectives and resolve issues.
• Lead contract negotiation, drafting, and execution.
• Manage overall project budget and schedule.
• Report regularly to the project team and client.
• Lead proposal review, leveling, and analysis and present findings to the client.
• Lead selection of consultants and vendors, including RFQ/RFP preparation, firm research and comparison, and business-term negotiation.
