Job summary

HITT Contracting is seeking an MEP Assistant Superintendent in California to develop skills in MEP construction management. You will conduct field inspections, coordinate with the MEP Superintendent, track progress, document control, and support startup and commissioning.

The role requires a high school diploma (bachelor's preferred) and 2–5 years in commercial construction; strong communication and leadership; willingness to travel; and proficiency with project software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; a four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction, including work with a commercial general contractor.
• Passion for the construction industry and a desire to lead and develop teams.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to work independently and travel as needed.
• Aptitude for solving problems and using computer/software tools in daily duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain adherence to HITT’s safety standards.
• Assist bidding for mechanical and electrical trades.
• Ensure documentation is filed and minutes are recorded.
• Coordinate with project superintendent and site operations team throughout the project.
• Help develop an MEP critical path schedule and update project schedule and logistics.
• Coordinate and track critical path construction and startup activities.
• Review mechanical and electrical submittals and track equipment deliveries.
• Assist the MEP Manager with conflict resolution for MEP issues.
• Support quality control for MEP systems construction and startup activities.
• Assist with commissioning activities and closeout documentation.
