Job summary

Evans General Contractors, LLC is seeking an MEP Assistant Project Manager to support mechanical, electrical and low voltage systems on complex projects in Advanced Technology, Life Sciences and Manufacturing markets. Based in Greenville, SC, this traveling role supports Project Managers to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will coordinate MEP trades, manage BIM coordination, QA/QC, prepare invoices and change orders, and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with a high degree of personal responsibility and integrity
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours a week and weekend assignments
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial construction; 3-5+ preferred
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Field construction environment including walking in rough terrain

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day Project activities under supervision of the Project Manager
  • Coordinate complex MEP systems during design, BIM, submittals, and construction
  • Perform QAQC on MEP scopes to ensure compliance with client expectations
  • Understand low voltage systems such as BMS, EPMS, SCADA, Fire Alarm, Security and Telecom
  • Prepare invoices, estimates, scheduling meetings, etc.
  • Keep track of and report on project progress specific to MEP installations
  • Assist in preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Solicit and obtain bids from subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Support change proposals, negotiate and issue change orders
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with field supervision
  • Communicate delays and issues to Owner
  • Maintain relationships with Owner, Architect, Engineers, Subcontractors and Suppliers
  • Assist with job start-up and close-out checklists
  • MEP Coordinators may be assigned on-site
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

MEP Assistant Project Manager

The MEP Assistant Project Manager contributes and supports specific mechanical, electrical and systems needs of our complex project types in our Advanced Technology, Life Sciences and Manufacturing core markets. They will support Project Managers in the planning, management, project completion and financial outcome of assigned Projects. This person should be able to manage day-to-day Project activities, identify and ensure prompt resolution of issues, and work together with the Project Team to ensure the Work is proceeding on schedule, within budget and according to contract requirements and specifications. This person will manage all Trade Partners for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Low Voltage Systems, and equipment vendors on our projects from procurement to final commissioning of the project. This role will be a traveling position with the initial assignment based in Greenville, SC.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day Project activities under supervision of the Project Manager
  • Lead and manage coordination of complex MEP systems throughout the design process, BIM coordination, submittal and construction of the project.
  • Perform QAQC on MEP scopes to ensure compliance with client expectations and Contract Documents.
  • Understanding of low voltage systems such as BMS, EPMS, SCADA, Fire Alarm, Security and Telecom
  • Perform tasks such as preparing invoices, estimates, scheduling meetings, etc.
  • Keep track of and report on project progress specific to MEP installations
  • Assists in the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports detailing the status of the Project
  • Solicit and obtain bids from subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Support efforts to expedite prompt processing of invoices and prompt payment through to subcontractor for amounts due
  • Assist in the preparation of change proposals, negotiate, execute and/or issue change orders to subcontractors and prepare revisions to the master cost breakdown as a result of change orders and management revisions
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with the supervision and managing of field activities
  • Communicate with Superintendent and Project Manager about delays and other issues that must be communicated to Owner
  • Maintain good relationships with the Owner, Architect, Engineers, Subcontractors and Suppliers involved with the project
  • Assist with preparing the job start-up and close-out checklists
  • MEP Coordinators may be assigned to work on-site at the Project(s)
  • Other duties as assigned
