Job summary

Evans General Contractors, LLC is seeking an MEP Precon Manager to prepare complete estimates for complex projects and build strong relationships with team members, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. This onsite role is based in Alpharetta, GA with offices in multiple southeastern locations.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in MEP preconstruction or estimating for a general contractor and a relevant engineering degree, along with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management or Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to develop concept-level estimates for MEP/process systems from limited information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete estimates for large and complex construction projects (MEP focus).
• Analyze project specs, sketches, blueprints to determine costs and pricing.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate material, labor, and equipment costs.
• Solicit and review quotes from vendors, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with operations during preconstruction and review plans and requirements.
• Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits.
• Build relationships with architects, engineers, subcontractors and clients.
• Review awarded projects and compare costs to as-sold estimates.

Job description

The MEP Precon Manager is responsible for preparing complete and accurate estimates on large and complex construction projects. The MEP Precon Manager is expected to build effective relationships with team members, external customers, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. This is an onsite position based in one of our offices located in Alpharetta, GA; Greenville, SC; Charlotte, NC; or Raleigh, NC.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for design-build, conceptual and plans/specs estimating, specifically in the manufacturing and life science market sectors
• Analyze project specifications, including but not limited to sketches, blueprints and sample layouts, to determine estimated costs and pricing
• Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate the costs of materials, labor, and equipment required to meet the provisions of the contract
• Solicit and review quotes from vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
• Work with the operations team throughout the preconstruction process in reviewing plans, specifications and general project requirements
• Detailed knowledge of pricing and costs for materials, labor, subcontractors and equipment for all trade disciplines
• Ability to manage multiple preconstruction projects
• Prepare cost analysis by reviewing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items
• Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits
• Builds effective relationships with architects, engineers, subcontractors and clients
• Review awarded projects and compare cost on a timely basis to as-sold estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate
• Performs other duties as assigned
