Job summary

Garda Capital Partners in New York is seeking an intern to join the Rates Trading Desk for Summer 2027. You will support the investment team, helping implement trading and risk-system solutions while shadowing and receiving guidance from a mentor.

You will gain exposure to analytics used in trading, work with the team on data collection, back testing, and presenting ideas to the desk, and have opportunities to shadow other desks for broader market insight.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in finance, economics, etc.
• Quantitative & programming skills (Python & SQL)
• Knowledge and interest in financial markets
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team
• Intellectual curiosity and motivation to innovate and improve
• Prior experience in rates markets is not necessary

Responsibilities

• Shadow the rates trading desk to learn day-to-day responsibilities from Analysts to Portfolio Managers
• Develop a fundamental understanding of the Rates market and products (bonds, futures, swaps, options)
• Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify trading opportunities and assess risk
• Complete projects for the desk including trade ideas with presentation to the investment team
• Support the team's research process (data collection, prototyping, back testing, performance monitoring)
