Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking mentors for its Beginning Teacher Mentorship program. The mentor supports beginning teachers through a year-long intensive experience, aligned with WV standards, and is assigned per semester as placements change.

The role is contract/hourly with a salary of $300 per mentor per semester; candidates should have completed WV mentor training and preferably hold the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.

Qualifications

• Preference for teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher.
• Mentor must have completed WV Center for Professional Development mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of such assignment.
• Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.
• MUST HAVE OR COMPLETE MENTOR COURSE OFFERED THRU WV STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION BEFORE END OF MENTORSHIP

***Each Faculty Senate shall have an opportunity to make recommendations on the selection of faculty to serve as mentors for beginning teachers under beginning teacher internship programs at the school (18-5A-5)
