Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks mentors for beginning teachers in a year‑long mentorship program. The role is contract/hourly with a stipend of $300 per mentor per semester, and mentors are selected to support teachers in the same school and subject/grade level when possible.

Preference is given to those who have completed the WV Center for Professional Development mentor training and hold the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential; the program requires completion of the WV DOE mentor course

Qualifications

• Must have completed WV Center for Professional Development mentor training or be enrolled during the first semester of mentorship.
• Preference for those with Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.
• Must complete mentor course offered through WV State Department of Education before end of mentorship.

Preference for teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher. Mentor must have completed the WV Center for Professional Development's mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of such assignment. Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential. EMPLOYMENT TERM: The Beginning Teacher Mentorship is a year-long experience, completed in the semester increments. The mentor is assigned on a semester-to-semester basis pending the placement of the beginning teacher.
SALARY $300 per Mentor per semester - Job description available from the personnel office
***Each Faculty Senate shall have an opportunity to make recommendations on the selection of faculty to serve as mentors for beginning teachers under beginning teacher internship programs at the school (18-5A-5)
