Job summary

18 Degrees in Pittsfield, MA seeks a Mentor Coordinator to train and support volunteer mentors, matching them one-to-one with youth in our programs. The role requires listening and guiding adults and youth through challenging conversations and partnering with staff to expand volunteer involvement.

You will recruit mentors and mentees, plan trainings, track referrals, maintain records, and document success stories while reporting to the Director of Volunteer Services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3–5 years in coordinator role for human services may substitute for degree.
• Ability to coach others on boundaries, trauma-informed care and vicarious trauma is essential.
• Strong interpersonal communication, writing and active listening skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Recruitment – Screen, onboard and train mentor volunteers with focus on cultural diversity.
• Mentee Recruitment - Interviewing and screening youth for participation and creating matches.
• Providing follow-up support to Mentors, Mentees and their family for full engagement.
• Planning trainings and workshops both independently and with others.
• Plan and implement community-based activities with staff, volunteers and youth.
• Maintain documentation, referral tracking, data entry and success stories.
• This position reports to the Director of Volunteer Services and works closely with her to increase and support volunteers throughout 18 Degrees.
