Job summary

Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical in Aurora, IL, seeks a Mental Health Worker Inpatient to support licensed staff on the psych unit. Full-Time nights, 7pm–7:30am, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Under RN supervision you assist with activities of daily living, document care, maintain safety, perform basic nursing tasks for adult and geriatric patients, and handle some clerical duties. Sign-on bonus available; comprehensive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid CNA license issued by the State; if not CNA, at least one year experience in a hospital Mental Health Worker role.
• BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• One year prior mental health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including ADLs.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and coworkers; communicate pertinent patient information to RN.
• Perform some clerical duties and provide basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients.
• Comply with Nursing Structure Standards and applicable state regulations.

Responsibilities

Mental Health Worker Inpatient: Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including assistance with activities of daily living. Supports the unit functions and maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers; functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. Performs some clerical duties as assigned and provides basic nursing care for the adult and geriatric patients. Performs responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State if a CNA. If not a CNA, a minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting preferred.
• BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.
