Summary: Mental Health Worker assists with skill building activities as identified in the treatment plan, and to coordinate activities such as interagency team meeting and other necessary meetings. Responsibilities will also include consumer/family support and coaching, documentation, consumer/family outreach, systems outreach, and school consultation.to collaborate with team members and implement goals identified by the family in the treatment plan, access community resources, and assist family members and other care takers in developing skills to access other systems supports. Be the eyes and ears of our expert clinical team as a Mental Health Worker. In this role, you'll observe and document consumers' physical, emotional and social behavior, reporting as necessary to the clinical team. Maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients, expertly intervening in times of anxiousness and assisting them with their daily activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Assist the therapist in the provision of individual/family and/or group therapy sessions on a weekly basis in the home, school, or community setting using approved treatment modalities and interventions
- Empower consumers and families with identifying and building upon their strengths
- Maintain regular collaboration with all systems involved with consumer and family
- Provides emotional support, time structured activities, and positive behavioral reinforcement.
- Assist with decreasing the likelihood of admission/re-admission to residential, mental/behavioral treatment programs of inpatient psychiatric settings.
- Evaluate consumer and family needs, interests, and response to treatment
- Helps family access community resources and supports by connecting them to natural environment resources in the home and in the community
- Follows up on all consumers needing hospitalization.
- Intervenes as needed when problem behaviors are exhibited, which includes but are not limited to counseling, removing them from the area, verbal prompts, securing the assistance of clinical staff, etc.
- Make and track 24-48 hour reminder calls
- Provide transportation support for consumers observe and document consumers' physical, emotional and social behavior, reporting as necessary to the clinical team provide interventions as needed.
- Ensure that medical records are prepared for MHP prior to contact, ensure maintenance of all assigned medical records.
- Schedules appointments and co-facilitates all interagency and discharge meetings
- Obtains and updates all consents as needed
- Make any necessary recommendations and referrals to other programs within and outside of Warren E. Smith
- Complete and submit all progress notes and required documentation in a timely, comprehensive, and legible manner
- Be flexible in scheduling appointments to meet consumer and family needs
- Contribute to any quality improvement/ outcome measurement tracking and data gathering as assigned
- Meet productivity standards for your position
- Responsible for implementing treatment plan goals and clinical strategies as developed with the family and clinical team
- Coordination of interagency meeting and necessary psychological or psychiatric evaluations for all consumers.
- Coordinate access to medical and/or other treatment services as needed by family members
- Responsible for consumer/family outreach in all matters surrounding the coordination of services
- Responsible to advocate on behalf of consumer needs
- Responsible to assure ongoing communication and integration of services among all service providers and support systems involved with the child and family
Communication
- Promotes, creates, allows, and assures effective communication among the OP staff.
- Provides prompt communication to staff regarding consumer needs and concerns.
- Communicates pertinent treatment information to the Clinical Manager and the treatment team.
Documentation
- Documents all unusual incidents as required by policy and procedure.
Planning
- Assists in the planning and organizing of activities that aid in the social, emotional, and educational development of the consumer.
- Participate in treatment team meetings as assigned.
- Attends mandatory and in-service trainings.
Monitoring
- In accordance with the principles of best practice, provides oversight and direction to participants of the OP group therapy.
Direct Service
- Provides ongoing support to consumers and other staff as needed.
- Creates an environment, which fosters positive growth and development for all consumers.
- Conducts groups and activities to promote resliliency in OP group consumers.
- Directly implement components of behavior modification treatment plans developed in conjunction with the treatment team. Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in a child or adolescent mental health setting.
- Must demonstrate a genuine respect for children, adolescents, and their families
- Be sensitive to the needs of children and adolescents particularly those that relate to family dynamics, and the educational and community structures.
- Demonstrate an understanding of cultural competence
- Knowledge of CASSP, community resources and managed care systems preferred.
- 3. Valid FBI clearance, criminal history check and child abuse history clearance required.
- 4. Participation in and completion of all CBH mandatory in-services (must be completed with three (3) months of hire and then annually from the date of the initial training).

Education and/or Experience Bachelors Degree with at least 12 credit hours in psychology, counseling, family therapy, sociology, social work, nursing, education, rehabilitation counseling, or theology.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software to access company e-mail and training and evaluation tools and a working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR certification.
