Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services in Marienville, PA, is hiring Mental Health Workers or Mental Health Specialists to work directly with adolescents in our residential Abraxas I program.

The role offers $21.85 per hour, full-time with overtime opportunities in a residential setting. You will document progress, support treatment plans, and collaborate with the Educational team and therapists to promote recovery and well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited program; human services preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
• Must pass federal and state background checks including listed offenses.
• Flexibility to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision, leadership, and model positive behavior for clients in a therapeutic setting.
• Observe client behavior and intervene per policy and treatment plans.
• Document client interventions, behavior, and progress.
• Report significant client changes to appropriate staff.
• Collaborate with Educational team and Mental Health Therapist on treatment plans.
• Implement daily activity schedules and coordinate client activities.
• Facilitate psycho-educational groups using standardized curricula.
• Conduct head counts to ensure safety and security.
• Support Abraxas philosophy and the Seven Key Principles of care.
• Demonstrate Safe Crisis Management techniques when needed.

As a Mental Health Worker or Mental Health Specialist, you will:

• Provide direct supervision, leadership, and serve as a role model to clients while interacting in a therapeutic and meaningful manner.
• Observe client behavior and intervene appropriately, as dictated by policy and individual client treatment plan.
• Document client treatment interventions, behavior, and progress.
• Report significant client changes in behavior, attitude, and/or physical condition to appropriate personnel while consistently evaluating client behavioral and emotional issues.
• Collaborate with the Educational team and client's Mental Health Therapist to implement the individualized treatment plan.
• Implement the daily activity schedule and structure and coordinate client activities, such as Family Night, Structured Recreation, etc.
• Facilitate and document various psycho-educational groups via standardized curricula.
• Conduct scheduled and random head counts to provide effective people security.
• Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
• Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

Hiring Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited program required; degree in an area of human services preferred.
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
• Flexibility to work overtime as required.
