Job summary

Forest View Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Unit Coordinator to manage clerical functions on the nursing unit and support patient care. The role supports admission, discharge, documentation and coordination with the treatment team on a 108-bed psychiatric facility near Grand Rapids, MI.

Essential duties include front-desk reception, patient observation, test status monitoring and chart preparation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year experience working with a psychiatric patient population and prior secretarial experience preferred.
• Experience with interventional and administrative duties to support nursing and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Serve as unit receptionist, answer calls, direct visitors and professionals.
• Trained as a Mental Health/Behavioral Technician, observe rounds and provide patient care.
• Monitor status of laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
• Conduct daily chart audits to ensure required documentation.
• Prepare charts for admissions.
• Distribute discharge paperwork to community providers and referring agencies.
• File paperwork as needed.
