Responsibilities

• Interviews participants using trauma-informed approach to gather information for IM+CANS IATP.
• Provide individual, family, and couples psychotherapy, including trauma-focused therapy.
• Maintain clinical case files and ensure quality audits of documentation.
• Deliver services in the HAS setting, including evening sessions two nights per week.
• Coordinate referrals and consult with external providers as needed.
• Participate in supervision, trainings, and community outreach.
• Provide HIPAA-compliant telehealth or in-person care as assigned.

MISSION/VISIONHealthcare Alternative Systems (HAS) provides a continuum of multicultural and bilingual (English/Spanish) behavioral care and social services that empower individuals, families, and communities. HAS seeks to implement sustainable programs that benefit society by improving the well-being and recovery efforts of those individuals, families, and communities impacted by behavioral health problems. With eleven locations across the Chicagoland area, HAS provides services and resources to individuals at every stage in their behavioral/recovery journey so that they can be successful and become contributing members of their communities.JOB SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Program Manager/Supervisor, Mental Health (MH) Therapist conducts mental health assessments & treatment plans (via the IM+CANS), and provides individual, family, and couples psychotherapy – versed in Trauma, as well as other supportive services – to individuals suffering from a wide range of mental health disorders. This position requires a willingness to work two (2) evenings per week to accommodate clients requiring after work/afterschool appointments. Access to reliable transportation, or comfort & familiarity using public transportation, will be necessary for this position.ESSENTIAL DUTIESInterviews participants with a trauma-informed approach to obtain information concerning social history, treatment and other pertinent information that would be necessary to complete an Integrated Assessment & Treatment Plan (IATP) using the State mandated IM+CANS tool with all new clients.Conducts primarily individual MH therapy sessions, with family and couples therapy sessions being provided, as deemed necessary & appropriate to the client’s treatment protocol.Maintains case files (i.e., clinical documentation) for all clients assigned to caseload, with all files being subject to regular internal quality assurance audits.Works as part of a team to further develop program initiatives and to increase program referral network.Performs community outreach & advocacy work with the goal of increasing the visibility & understanding of Perinatal Mood Disorders and Mental Illness, and to promote community treatment options.Identifies and provides referrals for additional services, as needed.Engages in regular clinical peer review of cases, particularly those involving the potential risk for self-harm or harm to others (particularly in cases where an infant or child could potentially be at risk).Attends Group Supervision/Team Clinical Case Review meetings/Discharge Reviews/COD.Participates in agency sponsored trainings, agency meetings, community outreach events, health fairs, fundraising events, etc., as directed by the Program Manager.Plan and administer therapeutic treatment, behavior modification, stress management therapy to assist participants in developing/displaying appropriate behaviors.Clinically evaluate patients to detect indications of abnormal physical or mental behavior.Review results of psychological evaluation and community documentation to support participants in best assessing needs.Be able to change and adapt methodology and therapy service administration as appropriate related to participants needs.Be able to discuss progress towards goals and objectives, such as medication regiment, family relationships, educational programs, social development, discharge plans, financial concerns or other behavioral problems identified with participant.Responsible for carrying a clinical caseload, wither via secured HIPPA Compliant Telehealth platform or face to face at a HAS location, while maintaining required productivity level as detailed by the Clinical Operations Director.Consult external community providers concerning treatment plans and for coordination of care as required.Will be crossed trained as needed.Performs all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIESShould have some familiarity with IL-DMH Rule 132 & IL-HFS Rule 140 and their general provisions & requirements pertaining to the delivery & documentation of Community Mental Health services.Must possess above average written and verbal communication skills.Must possess the ability to work independently while supporting the larger team.Must be highly self-motivated, disciplined, organized, and require minimal oversight.Must be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Outlook (email and calendars), and some familiarity working with Electronic Health/Medical Records systems is preferred.Must be willing to commit to working two (2) evenings per week to accommodate those clients requiring afterschool/after work appointments.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEA Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another related field, from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval, is preferred.Candidates possessing their professional clinical license (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT), or non-clinical license (LSW, LPC, AMFT), will be given preference.Candidates with bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities are needed.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSSedentary work.
