Job summary

People Encouraging People in Milford Mill, MD is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team and help individuals with serious mental illness live independently, stay out of the hospital, and build meaningful lives in their communities.

This is not traditional outpatient therapy. ACT is hands-on, team-based, and deeply impactful work—where every day is different, and your support meets clients where they are.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional (LMSW, LGPC, LCPC, LCSW-C) with active licensure.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in teams.
• Comfort in community settings and adapting to changing situations.
• Passion for serving individuals with serious mental illness.

Responsibilities

• Provide community-based mental health services in homes, shelters, and other real-world settings.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (psychiatry, nursing, case management, peer support).
• Share responsibility for a team caseload—no isolated practice.

What You’ll Do

• Provide community-based mental health services in homes, shelters, and other real-world settings

• Symptom management
• Crisis intervention
• Housing stability
• Substance use recovery
• Daily living skills
