MENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN - WEEKEND EVENINGS

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center, opened in 2014, offers high-quality behavioral healthcare in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. We provide treatment programs across inpatient, partial, and intensive outpatient settings for children and adolescents, focusing on promoting cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development.

We are seeking a Mental Health Tech/CNA: Friday - Monday 3P- 11:30P (32hrs) to provide direct care to adolescent patients with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders, ensuring their safety and well-being. MHTs are primarily responsible for patient safety on the unit.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient monitoring and 15-minute checks
  • Assist nursing staff on the unit
  • Ensure patient safety and well-being
  • Apply knowledge of risk and safety precautions
  • Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and physicians
  • React calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s in psychology or related field preferred
  • Two years’ experience as MHT or RBT in a psychiatric setting with children and adolescents
  • RBT preferred or must complete BACB-approved RBT course and maintain registration
  • Knowledge of behavior management and autism spectrum disorder
  • Effective communication skills and computer literacy
  • Physical ability to lift approximately 50 lbs and participate in restraint or seclusion procedures; annual Handle With Care training required
