Job summary

Voyages Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to support patient care in a hospital setting. The role includes observing patients, assisting with ADLs, taking vital signs, and guiding education and activity groups under RN supervision.

Applicants should hold a Nursing Assistant Certification, BLS, and Crisis Management Certification. Prior experience in acute hospital, rehab, or skilled nursing units is preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Observe and record patient information pertinent to the treatment plan
• Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols
• Assist with the patient discharge process
• Maintain direct patient observation
• Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups
• Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs
• Help patients perform activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Serve as a first responder to codes, behavioral outbursts, attempted contraband introduction, and medical issues
• Adjust therapeutic approaches to patient acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations
• Perform duties under the supervision of the Registered Nurse
• Follow Voyages Behavioral Health policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Do not assume independent responsibility for patient care

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by state where the hospital resides preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards required
• No experience required
• Two to three years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred
• PRN Tier 2: provide 6 shift availability per month, including 1 full weekend per month, 2 major holidays, and 1 minor holiday
• PRN Tier 3: provide 8 shift availability per month, including 1 full weekend per month, 2 major holidays, and 1 minor holiday
