The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients of various ages depending on the unit.

Schedule:

20-32 hours a week

Shift(s) Available:

NOC Shift (11:00pm - 7:30am)

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assist patients with activities of daily living; interact with patients, attend to their needs, and help in crisis intervention as needed.
  2. Transport patients to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories, and treatments as appropriate.
  3. Facilitate on-the-job training for new and existing team members.
  4. Assist in providing therapeutic patient care in group or one-on-one settings.
  5. Respond to emergency and crisis situations and support visitor safety.
  6. Monitor safety of patients and environment, including infection control standards.
  7. Observe, monitor, and record patient behavior and activities, including meals and food intake.
  8. Ensure safety and accurate location of patients at all times, including milieu management.
  9. Report changes in patient condition or safety to the treatment team.
  10. Orient and educate patients upon admission and document as required.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining knowledge of department processes, protocols, and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning, and participating in committees or work groups.
Experience & Education Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • A current Driver's license, in good standing, is preferred
  • Support for float coverage to inpatient and residential (adult) levels of care
Formal Training Will Be Provided:
  • American Heart Association CPR certification within 30 days of hire
  • Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within 60 days of hire
  • Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) trainings within 90 days of hire
  • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen
