Job summary

University Behavioral Health of Denton is a private freestanding psychiatric hospital providing mental health and chemical dependency care in North Texas. The Mental Health Technician works with a treatment team to deliver continuous patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, supporting adolescents to geriatrics across units.

The role emphasizes patient safety, observation, and collaboration with nursing staff, with shift coverage for full-time night rotation and potential overtime

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent preferred; CNA required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.
• CNA licensure and/or Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) in Texas preferred.
• CPR certification and Verbal De-escalation training within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe and document changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or progress toward treatment goals.
• Communicate changes in patient's condition to the Charge Nurse.
