Job summary

University Behavioral Health of Denton is a private freestanding psychiatric hospital providing mental health and chemical dependency care for adolescents through geriatrics. We offer inpatient and outpatient programs and a compassionate treatment team focused on individualized care.

This is a fulltime day shift with rotating weekends, based in Denton, Texas. The Mental Health Technician role supports the treatment team under RN supervision, performs vital signs, patient observation, and assists

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent; CNA required; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of one year experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: CNA licensure and/or Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) in TX preferred.
• Additional Requirements: CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-escalation within 30 days; overtime/flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe changes in patient's appearance, behavior or progress toward treatment goals and document them.
• Communicate changes in patient's condition to the Charge Nurse.
