Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is seeking Mental Health Technicians to support high-risk consumers in a state facility. The role is part of a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on direct care, recovery planning, and group activities within inpatient, outpatient, or residential settings.

The position offers progression through MHT I–III salary levels, with added shift differentials and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• MHT I: No experience or education is required.
• MHT II: One year of experience in providing behavioral health patient care.
• MHT III: Two years of experience in providing behavioral health patient care.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Possess a strong commitment to patient well-being and safety.
• Must believe that recovery is possible!
• Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants must submit to a physical examination and meet lifting/carrying requirements (up to 50 pounds) and push/pull forces up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to consumers of behavioral health treatment in inpatient, outpatient or residential settings.
• Develop and maintain supportive relationships to address strengths, goals and barriers to recovery.
• Monitor recovery progress toward treatment goals.
• Perform de-escalation activities and participate in recovery, wellness, and social skills groups.
• Develop and manage other group activities.
