Job summary

BayCare Health Systems is seeking a Mental Health Technician for Mease Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, FL. This full-time, hourly role supports psychiatric inpatients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and helps ensure safety and well-being.

The position requires a High School diploma, BLS, and preferred CNA or Patient Care Technician credentials, plus at least 6 months of related experience. Evening shifts are included, with comprehensive benefits, tuition reimbursement, and retirement

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Associate's and/or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• CNA or Patient Care Technician credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Education

High School or Equivalent

Associate's degree in related field - Preferred

Bachelor's degree in related field - Preferred

BLS (Basic Life Support)

CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred

Mental Health Technician Position Details:

• Facility: Mease Dunedin Hospital
• Location: Dunedin, FL
• Status: Full time, Hourly
• Shift Hours: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Weekend Work: Every Other
• On Call: No

The Mental Health Technician Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Required Certification/Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred
• Patient Care Technician - preferred

Required Education:

• Bachelor's degree in related field- Preferred

Required Experience:

• 6 months – Psychology or Bachelor's degree in related field
