Job summary

Universal Health Services and The Meadows Psychiatric Center in Central Pennsylvania near State College are seeking a Mental Health Technician. The position is full-time with 8-hour or 12-hour shifts (3pm-11:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am) and rotating every other weekend.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of mental health experience, with strong verbal communication and de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or preferred in mental health field.
• Minimum 1 year of mental health experience.
• Excellent verbal communication and calm demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient crisis events using de-escalation techniques.
• Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule.
• Conducts patient observation rounds to ensure safety.
• Supervise patients in daily activities and assist treatment team with therapeutic activities.
• Document patient behaviors, condition, and progress.
• Monitors visitation regarding patient safety.
