Job summary

The Meadows Psychiatric Center in Central Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Technician for full-time work. Shifts are 3pm-11:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am with rotating weekends.

You will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, providing continuous patient care, supervision, and interaction to patients from adolescence to geriatrics. As part of the treatment team, you will observe safety, document progress, and assist with therapeutic activities and daily routines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • One year of experience in mental health preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in dynamic environments; strong customer service and dependable attendance.
  • Verbal deescalation skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient crisis events using de-escalation techniques.
  • Lead activity groups for patients according to the program schedule.
  • Conduct patient observation rounds to ensure safety.
  • Supervise patients in daily activities and assist treatment team with therapeutic activities.
  • Document patient behaviors, conditions, and progress.
  • Monitor visitation regarding patient safety.

Mental Health Technician Opportunity

This opportunity is full-time 8-hour or 12-hour shift options: 3pm-11:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am with rotating every other weekend to work.

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania. We are located a short distance outside State College, PA. The Meadows is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital and has been providing comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults for over 35 years.

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responds to patient crisis events accordingly using de-escalation techniques.
