Job summary
The Meadows Psychiatric Center, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Mental Health Technician to join a full-time team in Central Pennsylvania near State College. The role supports patients from adolescence to geriatrics, under RN supervision, with shifts 3pm-11:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am and every-other-weekend rotation.
Ideal candidates have a bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of mental health experience, along with strong communication, de-escalation, and reliability to provide
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred and 1 year mental health experience.
- Strong verbal communication and ability to stay calm in dynamic settings.
- Verbal de-escalation skills required.
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Responds to patient crisis events using de-escalation techniques.
- Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule.
- Conducts patient observation rounds to ensure safety.
- Supervise patients in daily activities and assist treatment team with therapeutic activities.
- Document patient behaviors, condition, and progress.
- Monitors visitation regarding patient safety.
