Job summary

Dayton Children's is seeking a Mental Health Technician I for the Mental Health Unit. You will work under the RN or LMHC to provide direct, compassionate care to pediatric mental health patients, ensuring safety, documenting changes, and supporting families.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed practice, de-escalation, and teamwork to maintain a therapeutic environment. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, day shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with weekend/holiday rotations.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering trauma-informed care in a behavioral health setting.
• Strong communication with patients, families and the treatment team.
• Accurate documentation and adherence to privacy guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to mental health patients per standards and licensure.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and perform routine safety checks.
• Assist with activities of daily living and collaborate with the team.
