Regions Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join our inpatient team. You will work within a collaborative care team including psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers and more, to provide compassionate care to adults with mental illness.

The role emphasizes de‑escalation, crisis response, group dynamics, and milieu management to maintain a safe and healing environment. Daily ADLs, monitoring, data collection, and documentation in the EHR are core duties.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary education program in behavioral sciences OR completion of one year of post-secondary education in behavioral sciences or health care field OR has at least 1 year of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness OR 1 year of similar related health care experience.

Responsabilités

• Performs ADLs on a daily basis.
• Provides patient care treatments including restraint monitoring and collects patient data (vital signs, weights, intake & output).
• Collects routine patient specimens (urine, stool, finger-stick blood glucose).
• Responds to call lights and assists nurses with procedures as requested.
• Documents and charts care provided in the electronic health record.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Regions Hospital is the largest provider of inpatient mental health services in the east metro. We treat all mental illnesses in adults at our state-of-the-art facility. This means we can provide comprehensive, personalized care for all our patient's needs, no matter how complex.

Mental Health Technicians help to provide a caring safe healing environment for our patients.

As a MHT, you will work with a collaborative care team providing patients with the best care and support. You will work with psychiatrists, physician assistants, occupational therapists, nurses, social workers and more. You will provide patient care to patients experiencing mental illness(es) and their families using de-escalation skills, group dynamics and facilitation. This includes assisting with crisis management, therapeutic programming and milieu management as a member of the Mental Health Care team. This role is instrumental in addressing emergent and urgent issues as needed.

In addition, this position:

• Performs activities of daily living (ADLs) on a daily basis.
• Provides patient care treatments including restraint monitoring, and collects patient data including vital signs, weights, intake & output.
• Collects routine patient specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose as directed.
• Respond to call lights and requests and assist nurses with procedures as requested.
• Documents and charts care provided in the electronic health record.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Work schedule: The position is either days, evenings, or a combination of the two working a .5-.9 FTE (20-36 hours per week) with the specific shift and FTE discussed at the time of the interview based on departmental needs. This position does require you work every other weekend and holiday

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Completion of a post-secondary education program in behavioral sciences OR completion of one year of a post-secondary education in behavioral sciences or health care field OR has at least 1 year of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness OR 1 year of similar related health care experience as applicable.

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

Current CPR/BLS certification
