Mental Health Technician - AMH - Per Diem Dissociative Disorders Unit

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct patient care and participates in creating a therapeutic milieu.

Responsibilities

1. Identify and report house cleaning and equipment problems to the Unit Secretary/ND.
2. Participate in the unit’s inventory system; report when supplies are low.
3. Assist patients in maintaining a clean environment and promote safety.
4. Support patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and nutrition needs.
5. Escort and supervise patients during tests, exams, and procedures, ensuring safety.
6. Complete mandatory in-service requirements and seek professional development opportunities.
7. Maintain competency in treating age-specific patient populations.
8. Participate in critical incident debriefings and seek feedback on work performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting; 1-2 years preferred.
• Experience in direct patient care preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must complete and pass Epic training within 30 days of hire with at least 80% score.

Physical Requirements

Includes standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and other physical activities, with specified weight and frequency details.
