Job Summary

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the MHS provides direct patient care and participates in a therapeutic milieu.

Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

  1. Identify and report house cleaning problems to Unit Secretary/ND.
  2. Identify and report equipment problems to Unit Secretary/ND.
  3. Participate in the unit’s inventory system, reporting low supplies.
  4. Initiate activities that help patients maintain a clean environment.
  5. Promote an organized, safe environment for patients and staff.
  6. Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  7. Identify patient hygiene needs and implement interventions.
  8. Provide for patients’ nutritional needs per unit procedures.
  9. Assist and reassure patients during tests, exams, and procedures.
  10. Escort and supervise patients on and off grounds, ensuring safety.
  11. Maintain a commitment to professional growth and competency.
  12. Complete mandatory in-service requirements.
  13. Identify areas of strength and professional development with supervisor.
  14. Maintain competency for treating age-specific patient populations.
  15. Seek constructive feedback from peers and colleagues.
  16. Participate in critical incident debriefings.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials

Experience: One year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting; 1-2 years preferred; previous experience in direct patient care preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively; must complete and pass Epic training within 30 days of hire with at least 80% score.
