Job summary

Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center in the Los Angeles area is seeking a Mental Health Tech to support Behavioral Health's front and back office operations, assisting psychiatrists, patients, and the care management team. You will help with basic medication triage, vital signs, and EHR documentation, ensuring smooth clinical workflow.

You will also handle front office tasks like patient registration and insurance processing, assist with back-office duties, and maintain supplies.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Minimum of one year mental health worker experience with psychiatric patients in inpatient or residential setting.
• AHA Basic Life Support - CPR required.
• Fire Safety training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient/family care from admission to discharge.
• Monitor patient observations (Q15 min) and vital signs.
• Record patient VS, intake/output, and daily activities accurately.
• Assist nurses with patient care and activities of daily living as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients in crisis and support RNs with safety precautions.
• Maintain adequate stocks and supplies.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Mental Health Tech, you will be vital support for Behavioral Health's front and back office functions, assisting psychiatrists, patients, and the care management team. You'll ensure smooth operations, quality medication management, and clinical problem-solving.

Every day you will provide basic medication triage, support services, and take vital signs for behavioral health patients. You'll manage front office reception, patient registration, insurance/copay processing, and telephones, while also handling back office tasks like refill requests, injections, and accurate EHR documentation.

To be successful, you need strong multitasking, meticulous attention to detail, and a rapid ability to learn complex information accurately. Exceptional customer service, calm under pressure, EHR proficiency, and strict confidentiality are essential, along with flexibility to float.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient/family care needs from admission to discharge.
• Monitor patient on Q15 min. observations including (Q5, LOS, and 1:1 obs.)
• Accurately monitor and record patient VS, intake, and output, and daily activities, including patio breaks.
• Assist Nurses with patient care to include Groups, Activities of daily living, as needed
• Must be able to effectively communicate with patients in crises and assist RNs with restraining patients
• Assist in maintaining adequate stocks and supplies.

Preferred
