Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Lasting Hope Recovery Center in Omaha, NE seeks a Mental Health Tech to support behavioral health front and back office operations, assisting psychiatrists, patients, and the care management team. You will help ensure smooth medication management and clinical problem-solving.

You will provide basic medication triage, support services, and vital signs for behavioral health patients. Expect front desk duties, insurance processing, and back-office tasks with accurate EHR

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a human service field, required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification, required at hire.
• Basic Life Support Instructor certification, required at hire.
• First Aid certification to be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed care to patients and support self-expression.
• Provide emergency care and maintain a safe environment.
• Assist with nursing orders and tasks within scope.
• Maintain effective communication within the interdisciplinary team.
• Handle front desk tasks: reception, registration, insurance processing, and phone duties.
• Perform basic nursing tasks: vital signs, injections, specimen collection, ADL assistance.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Mental Health Tech, you will be vital support for Behavioral Health's front and back office functions, assisting psychiatrists, patients, and the care management team. You'll ensure smooth operations, quality medication management, and clinical problem-solving.

Every day you will provide basic medication triage, support services, and take vital signs for behavioral health patients. You'll manage front office reception, patient registration, insurance/copay processing, and telephones, while also handling back office tasks like refill requests, injections, and accurate EHR documentation.

To be successful, you need strong multitasking, meticulous attention to detail, and a rapid ability to learn complex information accurately. Exceptional customer service, calm under pressure, EHR proficiency, and strict confidentiality are essential, along with flexibility to float.

• Assists patients through a trauma informed care atmosphere in the development of individuality and appropriate methods of self-expression through promoting an environment in which the patient can problem-solve and test out new behaviors.
• Assists the patients in acknowledging and accepting responsibility for psychological and behavioral patterns through providing feedback and positive reinforcement, consistently applying program rights and regulations, behavior modification program and communicating in an appropriate manner with the patients.
• Provides appropriate emergency care and maintains a safe environment. Maintains a secure environment and acts as a resource for emergency situations. Performs basic nursing tasks (i.e. but not limited to: vital signs, blood pressure, specimen collection, accu checks, weighing and assisting with ADL). Assists the nurse in carrying out orders that are within the scope of practice.
• Provides trauma informed care and supervision to patients needing physical restraints or seclusion.
• Assists the patient in dealing with relationship difficulties, supports and teaches appropriate socializations skills. Facilitates various supportive, classroom educational (where appropriate) and psych-educational activities.
• Communicates effectively utilizing both verbal and writing methods within a diverse and multicultural environment. Maintains appropriate communication networks and harmonious working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team and other departments, through participating in staff meetings, quality assurance activities, safety, security and infection control programs, program development and implementation and all additional training assigned by leadership.

Job Requirements

• Bachelors Other in Human Service field, upon hire or
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire or
• Basic Life Support Instructor, upon hire and
• First Aid, within 6 - months

Preferred

• One year experience in the Behavioral Health field is and
• 2- or more years of experience working with behavioral clients.

Pay Range

$17.67 - $24.96 /hour
