Job summary

Fairfax Behavioral Health in Kirkland, WA is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) for a full-time role. The incumbent will support the treatment team with continuous patient care, supervision, and interactions for adolescent patients.

The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and opportunities to learn de-escalation techniques, build rapport, and advance within the behavioral health field under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent; degree in social work/recreational therapy or related discipline preferred.
• Two years of related experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation Certification required.
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Act as part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care and supervision for adolescents.
• Provide group activities and assist with milieu management.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Kirkland: Is our main 157-bed, standalone psychiatric hospital, composed of six units providing specialized treatment for mental health and co-occurring disorders for adults and adolescents.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to our adolescent patients. Provides the opportunity to grow your career in the mental and behavioral health field by learning de-escalation skills and techniques, gaining an understanding of behaviors, building rapport, and problem solving. Provides group “activities” and assists with milieu management. Mental Health Technician work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

Education: High School Degree or equivalent; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR, 1st Aid, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation Certification. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
