Job summary

Fairfax Behavioral Health in Kirkland, WA is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our inpatient team. The MHT provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling for adolescents, and assists with milieu management under RN supervision.

This full-time role offers growth in behavioral health with CPR/First Aid and Verbal De-Escalation certifications required, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for new hires.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in social work or therapeutic discipline preferred.
  • Two years of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation Certification required; overtime and flexible hours may be needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to adolescent patients.
  • Lead group activities and assist with milieu management.
  • Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Is our main 157-bed, standalone psychiatric hospital, composed of six units providing specialized treatment for mental health and co-occurring disorders for adults and adolescents.

Mental Health Technician (MHT)

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to our adolescent patients. Provides the opportunity to grow your career in the mental and behavioral health field by learning de-escalation skills and techniques, gaining an understanding of behaviors, building rapport, and problem solving. Provides group “activities” and assists with milieu management. Mental Health Technician work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Degree or equivalent; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR, 1st Aid, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation Certification. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
