Job summary

HCA Healthcare's Corpus Christi Medical Center seeks a Mental Health Technician to support adolescent, adult mood disorder and geriatric patients in a safe, therapeutic environment. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care and participating in treatment programs.

MBET responsibilities include monitoring patient rounds, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining confidentiality of records while contributing to crisis intervention when needed.

Qualifications

• BCLS required within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention required within 30 days of start date.
• No Travel Required.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and crisis intervention as needed.
• Lead milieu activities with a multidisciplinary team and monitor rounds.
• Chart patient observations and participate in 1:1 care when indicated.
• Participate in development and implementation of treatment programs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
• Accompany patients to appointments, labs, and treatments as required.
• May perform initial evaluations and take vitals, weights, and urine samples.
• Attend all required in-service education and staff meetings.
• Adhere to institutional policies, quality assurance, safety, and infection control standards.
• Pursue ongoing professional development through education and training.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The MHT provides direct patient care to adolescent, adult mood disorder, and Geriatric populations. The MHT provides patient supervision and assists in the maintenance of a safe, secure environment that enhances treatment effectiveness.

What you will do in this role:

• Provides care to patients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living; attends to patient behavioral problems, and aids in crisis intervention as needed.
• Works with other members of a multi-disciplinary team in leading milieu activities such as current events groups, community meetings, goals groups, fitness groups, activities of daily living groups, and/or recreational activities, as appropriate to the specified patient population.
• Charts patient observations, performs 15-minute patient rounds and 1:1 level of care.
• Participates in the development and implementation of patient treatment programs.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
• Accompany patients to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories, and/or treatments when required.
• May perform initial patient evaluations to determine treatment priorities; may take vital signs, weights, and urine specimens.
• Attends and participates all required in-service education and staff meetings.
• Maintains established institutional policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings, and online assigned training.
• May provide liaison with patients, families of patients, or external facilities and agencies.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
