Job summary

Gulfport Behavioral Health System (a UHS facility) seeks a PRN Mental Health Technician to join the treatment team and provide continuous patient care, supervision, and role modeling for patients from children to geriatrics depending on unit. Shifts are 8 hours: 7a-3p, 3p-11p, or 11p-7a under RN supervision.

Relevant qualifications include a high school degree, 1 year of related psychiatric care experience, valid driver’s license, and CPR/CPI training (or during orientation).

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
• One year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CPR and CPI training completed or during new hire orientation.

Position Summary:

Join a team where the PRN Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from children through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHT's work under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Mental Health Tech shifts are 8 hour shifts 7a-3p, 3p-11 pm, or 11p-7a.

Qualifications

Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred. Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline desirable.

Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful achievement of pre-employment online assessment. Successful completion of CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training. Certifications may be obtain during new hire orientation. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
